Background

The client wanted to extend the service life of its G.E.T. wear parts to reduce the down time due to maintenance and for these to be easy to replace and not require using a hammer to reduce the risk of accidents. The client had previously used wear parts of other brands and encountered penetration problems, breaks and difficulties when replacing the parts. The adapters were subjected to a lot of wear due to the high level of abrasion of the ground. They protected the bottom part of the tooth adapter using a cutoff plate, which prolonged the installation time and the assembling costs; these parts also ran a high risk of breaks occurring at the welds.  

Under these circumstances the client decided to try the MTG solution for completely protecting the bucket, which included MTG innovations such as the StarMet Wear Bottom Leg Shroud which doubled the wear material on the bottom leg of the adapter.

Results

The service life of wear parts increased considerably and the new bottom leg shroud reduced the maintenance periods and the risk of accidents. In six months there has not been any need to replace any tooth adapter equipped with the StarMet Wear Bottom Leg Shroud.
